United India Association Elects Neela Gandhi its New President

United India Association of New England, which was founded in 1984 to preserve, promote and nurture the values of Indian heritage by planning, developing and executing community events, has elected Dr. Neela Gandhi as its new president and a new executive committee, whose two-year term starts on January 1.

Gandhi replaces Dr. Seema Arora, whose two-year term ends on Dec. 31, 2014.

Gandhi told INDIA New England News that her vision for her term as President of UIA is to focus on "Unity in Diversity."

"As we Indians are so well versed in the concept of Unity in Diversity in all aspects of our culture, music, dance, food, religion, language, my goal will be to organize cultural programs and youth debates on interested topics and invite citizens of our adopted country by extending our hands to them to join us and be one with us," Gandhi said.

Gandhi is a dentist at Rofe Dental Associates in Brookline and Sahani Dental of Westwood. She received her DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2006. She practiced as an associate in Nairobi, Kenya for several years and also worked as a clinical associate in the Craniofacial Pain Center at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. In addition to her clinical practice, she contributes time to organized dentistry.
