Nazar is Boston's only professional South Asian Bollywood dance troupe and an affiliate of South Asian Nation. Founded in the Spring of 2011, Nazar had its debut performance at India Day in August 2011. Having derived our name from the Urdu word for "gaze of the eye", expression, passion, and energy form the bedrock of our dance philosophy. Each dancer brings to our team a background of complementary dance styles such as ballet, bharatnatyam, hip hop, or contemporary, which we combine with the biggest musical numbers to bring you Bollywood style.
Last year at Nazar's first annual showcase, we sold out tickets to a very exciting and entertaining evening of dance as we took the audience through a century of Bollywood hits. This year, we are having two performances to showcase our powerful theme: The Seven Sides of a Woman. Through Bollywood dance and music, we will pay a tribute to women and womanhood.
Join Nazar for its second Annual Showcase! Nazar will explore the incomparable beauty and wonder of being a woman. Through dance, we will portray her paradoxes, her passion, her endless abandon, her incredible strength, her boundless capacity to dazzle, and all that makes her a force to be reckoned with.
