'Essence of India' is an outdoor cultural event scheduled for  Sat, 16th of August at NARA Park, Acton from 3p.m. to 7p.m.  It follows two very successful events during previous years when well over a thousand visitors participated in the event that celebrates the classical and folk dance, music, arts and traditions of different regions of India.  This year, the event’s theme is Indian dances, presented in multiple genres of classical, folk and fusion. We strive to bring something new and different each year though staying within the boundaries of our classical heritage.

The event has many more aspects to it.  The attendees will see colorful and energetic dance performances.  There are the States’ Pavilions featuring booths representing unique traditions of various states of India, each more exotic than the other.  The visitors can also eat Indian food, apply henna motifs, learn about Indian spices,  kite flying workshop, basic health screening by our local doctors and participate in interactive exhibits featuring science, arts and crafts related to Indian festivals.  

The goal of the event is to bring communities together by creating cultural bridges, and encourage our children to discover multicultural traditions and heritage. We encourage and invite all the communities to attend and participate. Our Platinum and Gold sponsors are Bollywood Grill and Enterprise bank. This event is partially funded by Town of Acton, Cultural councils of Acton-Boxborough, Concord, Chelmsford, Littleton and Westford.
