Miss Kumu Gupta recently received Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from U.S. Congressman William Keating from MA, Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs  Asia and The Pacific Sub Committee, for over 20 years of service to the Indian American community and US-India relations.

Kumu Gupta started volunteering with the Indian Student Association when she first arrived in the US as an Undergraduate student at S.U.N.Y Stony Brook and also hosted for 2 years Radio Show "Jhankar" on campus radio (Live), heard all over Long Island. Kumu continued helping the Indian community in Silicon Valley-CA where Kumu spent 10 years before coming to MA. In that time, Kumu was on the Board of Governor's FIA (Federation of Indo American Association) of Northern CA, Marketing Committee TiECon and  Advisor to C.R.Y to name a few. Kumu was a special invited guest at the very 1st Global NRI Conference (New Delhi) , where PM Vajpayee signed the PIO card into existence, for her efforts in promoting hi tech trade between US and India. In MA, Kumu served on Quincy Mayor's Commission on Women &  Human Rights Commission (unanimously elected as Vice Chair),  Advisory Board of MA Asian American Commission and Congressman Keating's Women's Advisory Board. Due to a passion for helping women in need, Kumu spent significant time volunteering with Saheli, forming the Donate A Cell Phone program to help victims of domestic violence.

Recently Kumu introduced "My Thali", a healthy and fun eating concept for the Indian American community, based on USDA's My Plate program. KUMU Consulting, a hi tech consulting firm which Kumu Gupta heads, has been a President's Challenge Advocate since 2011.  In 2014 Kumu was nominated for Community Leadership Award of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.
