The South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston (SABA GB) is proud to receive the South Asian Bar Association of North America’s Outstanding Chapter Award.

The SABA North America Outstanding Chapter Award is given to the local SABA chapter that has shown the greatest improvement and development over the past year. Such advancements include: the growth in membership of the chapter; the rise in prominence of the chapter in the local community; the fundraising efforts of the chapter; the diversity of programming offered by the chapter; the community service and public interest efforts of the chapter and the chapter’s support of SABA North America.

Now in its tenth year, SABA GB has flourished as the regional voice for South Asians in the community and provided a forum for professional development, legal scholarship, mentorship, and business networking. SABA GB’s award-winning “Know Your Rights!” program (“KYR”) embodies its commitment to community service, and to be a more integral part of the fabric of the South Asian community in Massachusetts. SABA GB’s KYR program has inspired other area organizations to develop similar community education projects based on the KYR model. In addition, SABA GB works with other bar associations, governmental agencies and community groups to achieve greater involvement in and understanding of the issues facing the South Asian community of Greater Boston.

The Award was accepted by SABA GB President Gauri Punjabi at SABA North America’s 11th annual convention in Chicago, Illinois.

SABA GB is a local chapter of the South Asian Bar Association of North America, which is the umbrella organization for the local SABA groups throughout the United States and Canada.  In the Boston community, SABA GB serves as a forum for professional networking and development, legal scholarship and education, as well as a resource for legal services to the South Asian community.
