Our Voice And Yours | Lokvani wishes all its readers a very happy Puthandu and Baisakhi! It is a New Year Day not only for Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Odissa, Manipur and Punjab but also, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand, the route of Rajaraja Chola.
Puthandu is observed as a family time when people visit their local temples, wear new clothes and children go to elders to pay their respects and seek their blessings, then the family sits down to a vegetarian feast. Vaisakhi is an ancient harvest festival celebrated in the Punjab region by all Punjabis regardless of their religion.
